This and the following poem are dedicated to the memory of Melkon Guzelian, a great raconteur, who was expelled during the Turkish genocide in Armenia, and died while on holiday in Aleppo, Syria, June 2000. Sadly, I wasn't able to go to his funeral in Coniston, Cumbria, but I was there in spirit, as the following poem testifies.
