One thing you can know about God: you're not him

Everybody's arguing about God. Does he exist? Who is he? Should we call him Jesus, or Allah, or Buddha? Does it matter?

Obviously it matters, or we wouldn't get so het up about it.

The first thing we need to get clear is: you're not him.

That's where we all go wrong, trying to be the God in our lives.

That's what got us in a mess. In the story of Adam and Eve, the snake got them to eat forbidden fruit because he said it would make them like God. But it didn't. They got chucked out of paradise because they were disobedient.

And we've been suffering the consequences ever since.

That's what we are doing when we try to be like God, without letting him do the work for us.

We don't know how to be good, so we always get it wrong. That's why Jesus came to earth as a man, to live and die like one of us, to show us the way. He is the way.
