People aren't animals

If only we were. We say a person is a real animal when they do something particularly horrible, but animals don't do these things.

Animals don't turn people out of their homes when they haven't got the rent. Animals don't burn down forests and cause millions to starve to death on the other side of the world. Animals don't mess up their heads with drink and drugs.

Yet we were created to look after God's world. Look what a tip we've made of it.

That's because we aren't living the way we were created to be. Animals are more obedient.

There's a green movement throughout the world, warning us of what we are doing to ourselves, yet we pay no attention. Is there nothing we can do?

Of course there is. The green movement sees the problem, but it can't find the remedy, because that lies within. We've got to let ourselves be changed – because we can't do it to ourselves. That's how we got into this mess in the first place.

We can't obey God until we start listening to him, and living the way he created us to live.

Like the animals.
