Song: The lion and the lamb
a hymn for Harvest Festival
We're here today to thank you, Lord
For all the meat and drink you give,
And for the hands that till the land
And bring us food that we might live.
But also to repent
For how we've ravaged through your earth
And seek to mend its broken wings
And bring your kingdom back to birth.
chorus:
And the lion shall lie down with the lamb
And the desert made to blossom in the sand
And enemies shall walk hand-in-hand
Through golden fields, not barren land.
Forgive us, Lord, for what we've done,
Our stewardship throughout the years.
The starving millions cry your name:
You hear them but we block our ears.
So open up our hearts
As your heart bled upon the cross
And plant your seed within each one
To nourish all the hungry lost.
chorus:
And the lion shall lie down with the lamb
And the desert made to blossom in the sand
And enemies shall walk hand-in-hand
Through golden fields, not barren land.
The seedshell bursts and blossoms forth,
The golden days of autumn start.
Your harvest comes again.
The cycle of the year must turn:
No winter wind can freeze all time
So teach us what we all must learn.
chorus:
And the lion shall lie down with the lamb
And the desert made to blossom in the sand
And enemies shall walk hand-in-hand
Through golden fields, not barren land.
