Setting

All scenes take place in a suburban kitchen over two days, a Friday and a Saturday.

Characters

HE is in his early thirties, casually dressed. He works in a call centre. Educated working class.

SHE is his partner (not married), similar age, out of work, rather frumpish in appearance. Though less well-educated, she is smarter than him.

MAN is their next-door neighbour, early forties, wears more expensive business clothes, but lacks taste or dress sense (eg brown shoes with navy blue suit). What he actually does for a living is one of the ambiguities examined in the play. He seems to work in a local tobacconists, but perhaps he's a spy. Or both.

WOMAN is also not married to her partner. she is of rather similar age to MAN, sexier than SHE, more fashionably and better dressed than either of the other three main characters.

COP1 and COP2 are uniformed, in full riot gear. One is the good cop, the other the bad cop. DETECTIVE is in plain clothes.
