Exultation

A sudden joy infects my day.
Wonder blazes down from the heavens.
My heart beats so loudly old ladies look at me curiously in the street.
Intoxicated by sunshine, I am impervious to the rain.
My feet glide over the puddles, which scatter silver coins before me.

Why this irrational lifting of the spirits?
Why this hint of a paradise perhaps to come?
Tomorrow no doubt the come-down,
but for today every second,
every quick-caught breath
is filled with the pleasure of a new spring rising.

Enjoy it while we may.
