You don't have to be a Christian to love Jesus

But it helps.

God talks to everyone, whether you know it or not. And he has chosen some pretty important non-Christians to do his work.

Cyrus was a Persian king who was obedient to God when he was told to liberate the Jews from their exile in Babylon, and he did it, allowing them to return to Jerusalem. The wise men who worshipped at the birth of Jesus were probably fire-worshipping Zoroastrians, but they knew the real thing when they saw it.

The first non-Jew to recognise Jesus as the son of God was the Roman centurion, head of the squad that executed him. He got it wrong at first, but then God showed him what he had done, and who he had done it to.

Christians are people who practise how to listen to God. We can check what we think we hear with what it says in the Bible, the book of rules God has given to us to help us live happy, fulfilling lives. We learn to talk to him regularly, and to hear what he says to us. Because we know we can get it wrong. We know he will show us how to get it right.
