O the children of Urosevac
O the children of Urosevac
tending cattle near the Macedonian border
in the fields of Kosovo:
five have died and six have been badly injured
on an April day in Urosevac
O the mothers and fathers of Urosevac
whose children have been taken by death from the sky
in the fields of Kosovo:
how shall you explain to their brothers and sisters how they died
on an April day in Urosevac?
O the cluster bombs that fell on Urosevac
were targeted at anyone passing by
in the fields of Kosovo:
soldier, civilian, Serb or Albanian, grown-up or little child it is all one
on an April day in Urosevac
O the Albanian people of Urosevac
they say these bombs are sent for your protection
in the fields of Kosovo:
I cannot explain why they have killed your children
on an April day in Urosevac
O let us leave the village of Urosevac
and take the road south into Macedonia
away from the bombs falling on to Kosovo
perhaps one day we shall understand why they killed our children
on an April day in Urosevac.
O we have returned to the village of Urosevac
and all our neighbours have fled from the gangs who prey upon us;
our young girls have been taken to work in the brothels of Pristina
and our protectors stand by and do nothing to help us:
these are evil days in Urosevac.
